Discovery Inn Monterey

I love this "Inn" and always stay here whenever I am in Seaside (which is relatively often - for family business). This is a family owned and run establishment. It is basic and utilitarian; as noted above, my go-to place in Seaside. The rooms are clean, Maria is a lovely housekeeper for the Inn, the parking is free and more than adequate for all of the guests, the exterior is nicely kept, the location is excellent for me with lots of fast food and casual restaurants, as well as a Safeway, Starbucks, and Walgreens within a couple of blocks, in addition to a Costco, and a few more upscale eating spots in the vicinity. To top it off, Discovery Inn is pretty affordable and the owners are accommodating and quite nice. It isn't a 5+ star hotel, but it's great for me on business.

Stayed here after the Monterey Bay aquarium visit. Staff was very helpful and friend. Parking was awesome-huge Spaces and plenty for everyone. Nice landscaping in front of the rooms. Clean accommodations with comfy bed and bedding. Shower head was kind funky and needs replacing. And the hot water heater needs turned up-didn’t get hot enough for our liking. But not uncomfortable or cold. A/C was a bit loud but worked great to cool us off. Walls are pretty thin-could hear the neighbors too well but not more than the A/C could drown out. We slept well anyway.

We stayed at this hotel for our Anniversary and spent four nights there. The room was very cozy and cute, the bed was comfortable with super soft pillows. Everything was amazing and the location and parking was great! The people running the hotel were very nice and super friendly. We come to Monterey 2 to 3 times per year and we are going to be sure to stay at this hotel every time from now on.

I just recently stayed here during my vacation for Labor Day weekend and once again had an amazing stay the owners are amazing and The rooms have always been clean and nice when we arrive. I would absolutely Recommend staying here

It’s cheap and for the price it delivers above and beyond. It’s not big but it’s clean. The rooms look nice and have everything you’d need and for the price it’s well worth it.

I stayed here recently while visiting my husband and we had an amazing experience. The location was in a convenient location to get around Monterey. The staff were super nice and the rooms were very clean. The walls can be a little thin but people weren't very loud. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent service and genuinely friendly staff made our stay memorable. Room was spotless and well-maintained. Perfect location with restaurants and shops within walking distance. The real advantage is being just 30 minutes from Big Sur - you get convenient amenities without the premium prices of staying right on the coast. Great value and we’d definitely return.

Nice hotel, decent price. Clean rooms. Good location, close enough to the beach. You can take the bus up to Costco or the beach. Parking is available. There is no shampoo or conditioner, but there is bath soap. The only downside is that the rooms are super stuffy and warm, so we just keep the window open. Update: We found a bunch of ants in the restroom for 117. Just a heads up
